Welcome to the Collective Action for Energy Stability

We, the people of New Zealand, are deeply invested in our nation's energy security and economic stability, and are compelled to express our concerns over the closure of the Marsden Point Oil Refinery - a decision that significantly impacts our country's fuel independence and resilience.

Historically, the Marsden Point Oil Refinery has been pivotal in New Zealand's energy infrastructure, being the sole refinery operation within our borders. Its strategic value extends beyond mere fuel production, serving as a cornerstone for national energy security, particularly in an era where global fuel markets are prone to volatility and geopolitical tensions.

The cessation of refinery operations at Marsden Point marks a critical shift towards full reliance on imported refined petroleum products. This transition not only exposes New Zealand to heightened risks of supply chain disruptions and market-driven price surges but also undermines our sovereignty by increasing our dependency on international fuel markets.

The arguments for reopening Marsden Point Oil Refinery are multifaceted, encompassing economic foresight, strategic autonomy, and national security. Reinstating refining operations would empower New Zealand to maintain a robust, self-reliant energy sector capable of withstanding global uncertainties. Furthermore, it would safeguard our economy against the whims of international oil markets, ensuring stable and predictable fuel costs.

C.A.F.E.S was developed to champion the cause for Marsden Point Oil Refinery's operational revival. This initiative transcends economic considerations, embodying a strategic imperative to fortify our nation's energy landscape against future challenges.
